What is a Government Contractor?

A Government Contractor holds a contract with one or more of the departments of the U.S. Government to provide services to that department.  We employ Medical and Dental Professionals who work in U.S. military clinics.

Would I have to join the military?

No.  Contract Healthcare Workers work alongside Military, Reserve and Government Service healthcare providers but do not join the military.

Would I be a Government Employee?

No.  You would receive pay and benefits from DPS.

How can I work for DPS when I'm in another state or area of the country?

DPS employees are supervised by the active duty or Government service employees at the clinic in which they work.

Does DPS pay for relocation?

No. If you apply for a job requiring relocation you must make and pay for your own relocation arrangements.

What is Personal Leave?

Personal Leave is a combination of vacation and sick leave and will be used to cover all time off/away from work.

How and when would I be paid?

DPS employees are paid every two weeks by Direct Deposit.

What Benefits does DPS offer?

Is DPS an Employment Agency?

No.  Successful applicants become our employees.  No fees are paid to DPS in connection with applying for a position.

Is DPS a "Temp" Agency?

No.  DPS sometimes employs temporary staff but we do not provide temporary staff to other companies.

Will I have to have a background check?

Yes.  All DPS employees must successfully complete a full background investigation performed by a US Government agency.  The investigation is very thorough and can take several weeks.

Why do I have to mail in the application?

Most applications require original documents with original signatures – a fax or scan is not an original document.  The most sure and economical way to submit your application is via USPS, UPS or Fed Ex.

Do I have to send in all the application forms?

Yes.  The contract DPS holds with the US Government is very specific and requires the completion of all application forms and all supporting documents.  Incomplete applications cannot be considered.

Does completing the application guarantee a job?

No.  DPS will hire the best qualified candidate for the position.

Is my out of state license acceptable?

Practitioners holding a current, unrestricted license to practice in one of the fifty states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam or the U.S. Virgin Islands do not normally need to acquire a license to work on a federal facility in another state.
